Something Complex

With Something Complex, I aim to portray the complicated relationship between parent and child when circumstances have caused them to live apart, using my relationship with my father as an example. Through family archival images and other keepsakes, I aim to show disconnection and nostalgic feelings. The items themselves represent nostalgia, while their distortion of them reflects the disconnection and complexity. Showing over time how examining the past can lead to having mixed feelings in the present. Showing a layered representation of a complex relationship. Parent/child relationships are complex enough, however, when there is lost time and difficulties with communication it can become more complicated.
